Hi, I’m Anthony Hampton.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified Addictions Counselor, and Yoga Teacher. I hold both a Bachelor of Science in Theater, Speech, and Dance and a Master of Social Work degree from the University of South Carolina.

Over the years, I have worked in inpatient psychiatric hospitals, addiction treatment centers, intensive outpatient programs, and private practice. Each of these roles has given me a unique perspective on the many paths of recovery and the challenges people face along the way. Moreover, I have been on my own recovery journey since 1989. That lived experience—alongside my professional training—has taught me what truly supports joyful-lifelong recovery and what often falls short.

My approach to recovery life coaching is centered in the client-coach relationship. I employ an integrated use of education, inspiration, breath work, yoga, meditation and self examination to help people thrive beyond their addiction.Together we will co-create and execute a plan to improve functioning, overcome past wounds, and discover  truth and authenticity once again. I pride myself on providing a safe and welcoming atmosphere for this process to unfold. This work isn’t easy. It takes courage and commitment and I’m incredibly honored to join my clients in this shared experience.

I work 1:1 and in group settings to help individuals, family members, and loved ones break free and overcome the pain of untreated addiction and  abstinence-based recovery.. Your time is now! Let’s get started!! I look forward to connecting and working with you soon!!!

Addiction and Recovery Philosophy

While addiction is a complex and often controversial subject, My Philosophy on Addiction and Recovery is pretty straightforward:

1. Addiction Negatively Impacts Us All

2. There Is A Solution

3. Recovery Benefits Us All

I believe unaddressed addiction to be the number one public health threat facing the United States and a global epidemic that directly and negatively impacts us all in terms of cost, mortality, lost productivity, shattered family ties, corrosion of personal values, disconnection from self, and lost hope.

Over my 35 years of personal and professional experience in the field of addiction recovery, I’ve come to view addiction not as a medical disease, but rather a response to the human condition. (suffering) At it’s core, I simply view addiction as an external attempt to solve an internal problem. (Hurt, wound, discomfort)

As a Clinical Social Worker, Certified Addictions Counselor, and Recovery Life Coach, it is critical that I operate from a compassionate- evidence based perspective as I respond to individuals, families, and communities needing support and guidance towards, healing, repair, better health and wellness.

In terms of my personal recovery, I am a big believer in the 12 steps and yoga as designs for sober living, yet I realize there truly is, “no one size fits all” approach to recovery or healing for that matter.

That being said, I believe any effective-longterm  recovery approach must go beyond mere abstinence, and needs to include ongoing and continuous support. (Community)

In short, recovery is a return to personal wholeness and a reconnection with one’s own value system. Recovery essentially involves developing and practicing effective lifestyle habits that promote holistic wellness, ongoing self- examination, meaningful connections, community, personal growth, and service to others…

A Priceless Gift to Us All!!!
